I believe that anyone who can breathe can practice and benefit from yoga. Aloha, my name is Maya Siklai and I'm the owner and director of Yoga Hawaii. I am proud that our studio offers a welcoming environment where you don't have to be embarrassed to come try yoga just because you can't touch your toes or you don't wear brightly patterned spandex pants.  Here you will find friendly, skilled teachers who care about your health and well-being and other seekers like you of all ages and sizes working on self-improvement through the time tested practices of Yoga and Ayurveda. In my 20 years practicing and 8 years of teaching yoga I have seen amazing positive changes in all kinds of people. I believe in the positive effects of Yoga and I invite you to try it today. Your first class is just $5, so why wait?

Our Mission

Yoga Hawaii is a community-based, locally-owned studio that believes in the importance of holistic health and well being above external beauty. Our well-trained staff of yoga teachers offer classes for all levels and physical abilities that focus on long-term health above short-term results.

Yoga is an ancient science of physical, mental and emotional health that has endured and evolved into a practice excellently suited to finding balance in our modern lives. These days most of us spend 6-10 hours a day sitting in a chair, hunched over a computer or other device, bombarded by information from all directions leaving our bodies & minds imbalanced. We’ve found yoga to be the best set of practices for realigning our bodies, minds and hearts so that we can be more effective and present to enjoy our passions and spend time with our loved ones. The best part is, ANYONE can do it: if you can breathe you can do some form of yoga!

We offer public classes, private instruction, workshops, teacher training, yoga retreats and community events that will help you achieve your goals of pain-free body, stable emotional state, and a calm focused mind! Remember touching your toes is not a prerequisite, it’s a benefit you will achieve. Check out our New Student Guide if you’re new to yoga and not sure where to start.

We invite you to join us. Don’t wait. Your first class is just $5 any time.

Studio Guidelines

Our yoga shala is a community built upon a mutual love of the art & science of yoga and a mutual respect for each other. Here are some guidelines to follow.

  • Please arrive on time or a few minutes early to sign in & get a spot in class!

  • If you’re new to the studio we recommend reading our New Student Guide and registering for your first class on our Class Schedule to expedite the check in process.
  • If you arrive a few minutes late please wait until the initial “Om” mantra is complete then enter quietly. The late entry cut-off time of 15 minutes.  If you are more than 15 mins late you are not encouraged to join a class for your safety & respect of the other students and staff.

  • Cleanliness shows a respect for your body and our shared space. Please leave sand at the beach & do not wear strong scents or perfumes. Strong body odor of all kinds can be distracting to your fellow practitioners.

  • Keeping voices down on the lanai outside studio doors by whispering or taking them down to the garden or one of Kaimuki’s fine eateries! You’ll appreciate the same when you’re resting in savasana!
