Community strengthens and uplifts us.
Work-Trade & Community Activities
We believe yoga should be accessible to everyone regardless of age, race, ability or income. It's participants are community members who are passionate about pursuing yoga studies and have free time to volunteer but lack the financial means at this time to attend regular classes. Worktraders work 1 to 4 hours a week for the studio cleaning, checking in students for classes, flyering or applying their unique skills to help the studio and this community thrive in exchange for free yoga classes!
Teachers frequently offer free classes to the community, such as International Yoga Day and and SuperClasses on holidays. Students and faculty often perform in free events both here and in the community, such as enacting the story of the Ramayana at our Diwali festival of lights celebration each year. You can also find us at Gandhi’s annual birthday celebration under the Gandhi statue in Waikiki, to promote and share our aloha with the community.
Social & Environmental Awareness
Still & Moving Center hosts student challenges and then donates regularly to the Ho’ola Na Pua, Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center and Waimanalo Health Center. We’ve hosted numerous benefits for local non-profits and charitable causes, such as Street Angels, Syrian refugee children, moms and babies.
We remodeled our space using environmentally friendly practices. For example our cork floors are made by removing the bark of the Cork Oak without harming the tree - a renewable and sustainable resource.
Local Big Island Mango wood is a green product because of its fast growth and the incentive to replant it for both fruit and lumber.
Chemical Free & Low Waste
Our everyday use items include: Low flow showers and faucets, LED light bulbs, Bio cleaning products, Eco paper towels, toilet paper, Biodegradable cups and plates.
We use all natural, chemical free cleaners in our studio everywhere from the floor to mirrors to bathrooms. Because you shouldn't worry about touching or ingesting harmful chemicals in our sacred space. Nature's cleaners are good enough for us!
To help us reduce waste, please use re-usable cups and water filter in each studio.
