Some of the people we know and love…by Rupali

Shot and produced by www.makamaephotography.com.

Makamae Photography – the brilliant photography by Kaui Nichols graces almost everything you see and touch from Yoga Hawaii. In addition to being an awesome yogini, Kaui is a talented photographer and website designer. I highly recommend her work. You won’t be disappointed.

Law Offices of Lars Peterson – our corporate attorney who also practices Ashtanga Yoga at our studio.

Yoga Resource of yoga articles, with a yoga business directory, classifieds section and yoga events too.

Yoga Alliance – the oversight organization for yoga teachers and yoga schools internationally.

Check out Hairspray Salon, downstairs from the studio. Ask about their Yoga Hawaii discount!

Hairspray Salon – visit Jen, my personal hair stylist, who also practices yoga with us, or Stuart, her husband, or April, an equally hip stylist. 1152 Koko Head Ave (downstairs from our studio!), Honolulu. Appt: (808) 734-5775. Ask about their discount on services for Yoga Hawaii students.

Lynn Morgan, Resonate Repatterning practitioner – a Yoga Hawaii student and Rupali’s personal mentor and guide; incredible at helping to release emotional blocks and achieve vibrational alignment. Appt: (808) 722-3581.

Jill C. Peterson, PsyD – trained in Yoga Nidra, and also a Yoga Hawaii teacher and student, Jill excels at the treatment of depression, anxiety, improving relationship skills and identifying and attaining personal and professional goals. Appt: (808) 721-8048.

Vishvarupa

Vishvarupa by Raghupatti Bhatta, displayed at Yoga Matrix.

Yoga Matrix – Dear friends Tamara and Tomasz own a yoga studio called Yoga Station and art gallery in Canada. If you’re ever in Ontario, you must check it out. This painting, Vishvarupa by Raghupatti Bhatta (at right), is from their gallery. Tomasz is an amazing Cordon Bleu-trained chef and together they ran the Santosha CafĂ© in Mysore, THE place for yogis to hang out after practice.

Sail Blue Hawaii – Wanna go sailing? My favorite charter is with Captain Gaelyn Penberthy of Sail Blue Hawaii. She will tailor the outing to your desires, whether it’s snorkeling, whale-watching or diving. Reasonable rates and very knowledgeable.

University Hotel Network – Find hotels near the University of Manoa. Handy.

dancing4Starstruck Studio – Learn to dance with my teachers, Alicia and John Aros, at their studio in Hawaii Kai. They offer classes in the popular Latin ballroom dances, like Salsa, Rumba and Cha-Cha, as well as the principal smooth dances, like Fox Trot, Waltz and Tango. So fun! Tell them Rupali sent you.

Gregory Chiropractic Offices – Dr. Charles Gregory has treated Rupali and Tania for over 20 years as well as many of our students. He’s a master chiropractor and uses a nonforce technique (DNFT) that does not involve traditional ‘cracking.’ Super effective for those nagging neck, shoulder and knee pains. Appt: (808) 596-8054.

Sunshineyoga.com – A good source for wholesale yoga mats, Mexican blankets, yoga blocks, and supplies.

Holistic-Hawaii – An excellent online resource guide for information on Hawaii businesses, organizations and events in the sustainable, renewable wellness industry. You can promote your own events or business through the eblasts it provides to its large database for a reasonable amount. Totally worth it.

Doggy Walkers – many of us at Yoga Hawaii use this service, run by former Yoga Hawaii teacher Lara Robinson (nee, Lasher). She lovingly takes care of my kitty, Shanti, during my travels. (808) 375-9925.
