Restorative Yoga for the Psychonaut
Much like an astronaut, the psychonaut ventures into the wide unknown of their own consciousness. Yogic posture is the seat from which Yoga begins and is meant to be practiced along with the study of metaphysical texts. Combining longer holds in deep hip openers with philosophy, we will explore the ultimate text for Yogis—the Yoga Sutra, and the advice given in regard to yogic postures. We will conclude the session with an exploration of Pranayama. Cost: $30

Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series
The Primary Series, as taught by Sri K Pattabhi Jois, with an emphasis on protecting the knees and low back. Cost: $40

Adjustment Clinic
Learning adjustments deepens your understanding of the technique, alignment and action of the postures. Cost: $40

Vinyasa class with an emphasis on backbends
A Meditation on the Joy Within: “Vishoka va Jyotishmati”
Standing and balancing postures linked with Vinyasa cultivate a stable foundation in our ability to set clear roots and provide a firm grounded basis for the wellspring of Joy. The unpredictability of Vinyasa sequence keeps the experience fun, and helps us connect to light heartedness in our heart’s center. Cost: $45

About the instructor
International yoga teacher Bhavani Maki is the director of Yoga Hanalei and Ashtanga Yoga Kauai, a musician and yogini. A practitioner of the Ashtanga Yoga system for more than 15 years, she has been teaching for 16 years. Coming from a multicultural background and having traveled extensively, Bhavani interweaves the insights she has gathered into a holistic exploration of the microcosmic and macrocosmic self. She specializes in Yoga Philosophy, Yoga Psychology and Yoga Therapy, and offers unique insights into discovering greater joy and freedom within one’s self.
Bhavani has made six trips to Mysore, South India, to study with Sri K Pattabhi Jois, as well as having the rare experience of hosting him twice on her home island of Kauai. She received her teacher training and authorization personally from Ashtanga Yoga Masters Sri K. Pattabhi Jois; Baba Hari Das of Hardwar, North India; and the Mount Madonna Center. Sharing her love of yoga, Bhavani inspires you to explore your full potential through yoga in a light hearted and compassionate way.
